Lucky Harbor, Where You Are Sure to Get ... Lucky

Wow... how did it get to be December?  I had planned for this week to take place sometime back in October or November but things had to be shifted to accommodate life.

In years past I have published recommendations for holiday gift giving and decided that this year should be no different and I'm starting out by promoting a series that I have loved by one of my favorite authors, Jill Shalvis.

The Lucky Harbor Series takes place in the fictional town of, you guessed it, Lucky Harbor where there are plenty of good looking single men and women just waiting to find the one.  I like this genre and I believe Jill has done an excellent job weaving the stories of each and every one of the characters together.

The first 3 books, Simply Irresistible, The Sweetest Thing, and Head over Heels center around 3 sisters raised separately coming together to restore an Inn they have inherited.. and finding themselves some unexpected Man Candy.  All very good, all very enjoyable, all recommended!

The next 3 in the series Lucky In Love, At Last, and Forever and a Day, are each going to be reviewed and featured here in the coming days.  If you are interested in buying before I review, all of the books are available for purchase online in my wee little Amazon Store or IndieBound if you prefer.

Synopsis:

Inheriting the most notorious house of ill repute in Texas can spell trouble for a girl's reputation . . . especially when she's Elizabeth Murphy, Bramble's prim and proper librarian. Yet when she discovers a buck-naked cowboy handcuffed to a four-poster bed, she forgets all about the town gossips. Elizabeth has sworn off men, but the stranger's kisses melt her resolve faster than ice cream on a hot summer day.
Waking up in Miss Hattie's Henhouse isn't how Brant Cates reckoned on getting to the bottom of his great-granddaddy's murder. The plan was to solve the centuries-old crime, then get the heck out of Dodge. But after meeting Elizabeth and discovering that the buttoned-up beauty is a sexy siren in disguise, he just can't pull himself away.
Now Brant needs Elizabeth to finally put his past to rest, but is she willing to risk her future on Bramble's newest bad boy?

My Take:

Heres a new twist on your standard cowboy heads to the house of ill repute story... the #1 hen isn't what Brant expected.... and neither are the rest of the hens.  A little fun, a little intrigue, and some great characters to build on I found Trouble In Texas a great way to pass my time on the treadmill.

Synopsis:
When "Life Coach to the Stars" Jocelyn Bloom is embroiled in scandal, the only place she can hide is the one place she wishes she could forget. She left Barefoot Bay-and the boy next door who knew all her secrets-years ago. Now nothing about the tiny island off the coast of Florida is quite how she remembers it, especially Will Palmer. He's even more gorgeous and tempting . . . and still capable of turning her world inside out.

But what if someone is waiting for you?

To Will Palmer, Guy Bloom is more than the elderly, senile neighbor he looks after-he's the last connection to Jocelyn, the woman Will loved and lost. But the reunion with Jocelyn doesn't go smoothly. Shocked by the change in her father's personality, Jocelyn struggles to reconcile her dark childhood with the sweet, confused man who has grown close to Will. Jocelyn has guided countless clients to happiness-but can she escape the rainy days of her past for a new sunny future with Will?

My Take:

The 2nd installment in the Barefoot Bay series, Barefoot In The Sand features Lacey's friend Jocelyn Bloom, a former Mimosa Key resident.  (I reviewed the 1st book Barefoot in the Sand in July, 2012)  Picking up 6 months after the 1st book ends things in Mimosa only get better (for the reader - the characters might disagree) and I found myself once again wishing that I had more time on the treadmill so I could keep reading.

I'd go pre-order this one if I was you....
